I am Nils from Germany and after my Masters in Molecular Biology at the IMPRS in Göttingen, I moved to the Netherlands for my PhD in the lab of Wilbert Zwart at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam. My work there focused on the influence of cofactors in the transcriptional regulation of the androgen receptor.
In 2026 I joined the lab as a PostDoc working together with the Sonnen group at the Hubrecht Institute, where I will continue to work on transcriptional control. In my project, we are trying to understand whether nuclear metabolic enzymes have a deterministic role in cell fate decisions and what role they play during early embryonic development. We will apply microscopy as well as proteomics approaches to investigate the dynamic behavior of metabolites, enzymes and their associated proteins using human in vitro models of somitogenesis.
In my free time, I play and coach water polo but I also like to play tennis, padel or basketball. Besides that, I enjoy preparing and eating food or playing any kind of games, especially together with my friends.
